When We Match.

Privacy

Privacy policy

Last updated May 25, 2026. When We Match is available only to adults 18 and over, in the United States.

Information we collect

We collect what you tell us when you open a search: your own identity details, and the private details of the person you hope to reconnect with. We also record basic account and payment information needed to run the service.

Note: a complete, itemized list of collected data will appear here in the final policy.

How we use it

The details you provide are used for one purpose: to find and verify a possible match, by hand, during our review window. We do not use your information to advertise to you, and we never sell it.

Note: lawful bases and any limited service providers will be named in the final policy.

What we share, and when

The person you named never sees the details you gave us. No contact information is exchanged with anyone until a match has passed review and both people have separately agreed to reconnect.

Note: this section will be expanded with our full disclosure practices.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or export your information at any time, and you can delete your account and your search whenever you like. You are never added to When We Match by anyone else — a search can only exist if you create it yourself. You can also add yourself to our do-not-match list at /opt-out (verified by email) so you are never part of a match.

Note: state-specific rights, including those of California residents, will be detailed here.

Deletion

You can delete your search and your account with one click. When you do, the person you named is never told you were looking, and your data is removed from active systems.

Note: precise retention periods and backup handling will be specified in the final policy.
